Trashion Tribe

2019 Fashion Industry | London, UKPublished | Humanity Vip Magazine, Imirage Magazine and PolisArt Magazine

Creating environmental projects using Fashion as background to be published in Magazines and digital social media, creating awareness during the COP26 - 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, hosted in Glasgow on 31 October – 13 November 2021. COP26 was a failure, if you were looking for the giant leap forward required to limit warming to 1.5C

TRASHION TRIBE, Project in collaboration with Diana Matoso, an environmentalist fashion designer, creating all the collection, about the environmental crisis we live.

INSPIRATION

TRASHION TRIBE has been inspired by the ongoing Climate Emergency and Ecological Crisis our Planet is experiencing at scale. This concept embodies the latent possibility that, should Humanity fail to reset this path, life as we know it will be transformationally different.

TRASHION TRIBE thus reflects an imaginary parallel state of affairs, a dark[er] world that, unless we all collectively commit to change, we will not be able to avoid.

By creating a fashion collection from used plastic, pieces of rubbish and litter, and weaving it into a mood board where a natural messy wave hair or a tribal makeup was used, TRASHION TRIBE recreates the aftermath vision of such a world.

THEME

In a short time frame, Humans have created such an unbalanced and unsustainable lifestyle that is fast approaching a moment of no return in the process of their own extinction. It seems no other wake up call will work until it rings the catastrophe alarm during the collapse.

Because the majority of humans have disconnected from nature, they don’t recognize it as part of themselves anymore and are therefore unable to stop injuring it and themselves at the same time.

This project aims to awaken in people the conciseness about the material waste they produce and also the need to embrace change about it.

STORY

Humanity wakes up from a shutdown to find all its technology has collapsed. No more sucking the rivers or drilling the earth, no more Instagram or world wide web.

No machines are working and all that is left is what has been previously produced, like the waste now floating in the oceans or a pair of rusty scissors. This is the point when everyone starts scavenging for rubbish as if it was gold and craft makers become respected again.

New tribes emerge living and traveling on floating plastic isles through rivers and oceans, trading and sharing information. This collection was created by one of these, the Trashion Tribe, Diana Matoso.

This concept embodies the latent possibility that, should Humanity fail to reset this path, life as we know it will be transformational different. Thus reflects an imaginary parallel situation, a dark[er] world that, unless we all collectively commit to change, we will not be able to avoid.

By creating a fashion collection from used plastic, pieces of rubbish and litter, and weaving it into a mood board where a natural messy wave hair or a tribal makeup was used, TRASHION TRIBE recreates the aftermath vision of such a world.
