“A Short history and Traditions of Bambui 1700–2012” by Barnabas Chungong Bonu The Bambui citizen should know the basic history of the village because knowing it truly matters. It is for this reason that I have been motivated to write “A Short History and Traditions of Bambui.” Future researchers will use it as a base to uncover what I have left out. A cure for the unfortunate events that Bambui has faced will be found. One of the events is the half a century of protracted land and chieftaincy disputes with Finge (1954–2005). The Bambui and Bafut protracted land disputes since 1964 cannot be left out. The ongoing controversy with Nkwen over the quarter called Tubah cannot be left out. Though the Bambui/Bambili conflict of 1936–1938 had been resolved, the historical fact remains. This writing will also give primary school teachers and students of professional schools available information on the history, geography, socio–economic, cultural, ethnological, and demographic facts about Bambui. Without history, you live in a vacuum with nothing to hand over to future generations. A society that is ignorant of its past is like a person without a memory.” Commager, 1967“My Life Story Life” By Tamakum Tancho PeterResponding to the demand of my children especially Florence Ngwefo who in my occasion had wanted to know more about my history, I now write.I am therefore sure that my grandchildren shall have a better background of the past concerning their family origin and in the future some may write better life stories than this.It is in an African saying that`` a man`s life is better seen at his death’’. The questions asked during funerals and death celebrations are very common such as: ``How long has he lived?’’, what had he done?’’, How many children?’’, "How many grandchildren?’’, "How many in-law?’’When the answers are positive to the questioners, they call the funeral or death celebration a very good one because there was going to be much food and drinks. In such cases bachelors who are not even family members can keep sleeping there until celebration ends. My life story. What is life? I understand life to be coming into being of a person commanded by God through human natural forces.
